As I boarded my flight in Vancouver yesterday I happily came across the HSBC advertisement with my image from Recife, Brazil. Take a look below.
This was one of three shoots that I completed in northeastern Brazil back in 2009 working with Art Director Tobias Prasse. I got to keep one of the Brazilian soccer uniforms which still gets a big thumbs up from all of my Brazilian friends on the rare occasion when I wear it around LA.
The continued usage on these images is an important lesson for young photographers that you need to always maintain the copyright to your photographs and that you need to work with reputable agencies that respect your rights as a professional.

Have you heard about this guy? He’s all over the web right now. And for good reason. Ian Ruhter is a self-taught tintype photographer who has created the largest wet plate print ever, turning the bed of his truck into a custom camera to do the job. Ian realized that the part he missed most when digital technology took over photography was using his hands so he set out to make a camera that no one else had to make images that challenged him to use his hands again. Click here for a great article via coolhunting.com and check out the video below to see the process. How will you be inspired to be original?

When I found out that Chanel Iman was going to be one of our house-mates during Coachella last weekend I knew a fun weekend was brewing. I’ve know Chanel since her first season modeling at the shows. On Sunday, she dressed in an awesome outfit that has exploded across the style blogs. That afternoon I kept snapping Chanel because she was clearly the star of the show. Here are a few fun favorites…
Rocking out!

Chillin’ out!

And having fun with our other house-mate Heidy De la Rosa!

Last night I was heading to the A&I/Julia Dean book workshop that is part of MOPLA when the universe intervened and I found myself heading downtown.
What was downtown? Why the Werewolves and Silver Bullets event of course. And I am thanking the universe because Griffin Matthews and Matt Gould of WITNESS UGANDA performed part of their musical and they were amazing. Check out a short clip here:

Last year I was covering Coachella for Glamour Magazine. This year, I’m heading out for fun but will definitely be bringing my camera. Let me know if you’ll be out there so I can grab your picture. As a little warm up, here is a photo I shot of Camilla Belle at the Mulberry Party last year.

I look forward to seeing you at the parties or the show!
